sql server new users:
I'm a one day newbie to sql server and need some pointers.

I have a production server and a testing server. I'm looking at both
my production and testing servers using the Microsoft SQL Server
Management Studo console.

I need to get a copy of a database from the production to the testing,
but can't figure out how to do it!

Can someone give me a step by step on how to do this?

Thanks.

1) Learn to use and love Books On Line (BOL). They are an AMAZINGLY useful
resource!

2) In SSMS (Management Studio) and production server (Object Explorer),
right-click on the database and choose Tasks - Backup and follow the wizard.

3) In SSMS connected to Test server, right-click on Databases Folder and
choose Restore Database and follow prompts. You want to use a Device restore
and select File and navigate to your backup.
