sql server new users : Change the default password policies

I just upgraded from SQL 7 to Sql 2005 on Server 2003 sp2 r2. I had to
upgrade because one of the programs we own required the change for their new
version. Now my old no longer supported programs don't work. I suspect that
it is because they have weak passwords.

When I try to disable the Enforce password Policy and Enforce Password
Expiration in the properties of the users I receive this message.

The CHECK_POLICY and CHECK_EXPIRATION options cannot be turned OFF when
MUST_CHANGE is ON. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

Any Ideas?

Hello, Steve

Change the password to something else, then turn off the CHECK_POLICY
and CHECK_EXPIRATION options, then change the password back to the
desired one.
