sql server new users: I would try uninstalling and reinstalling simply because who knows what
state you are in. You should be able to check ALL of the options you want
including the client tools from the initial setup screen.

Hi,

just tried to install the SQL Server Developer Edition on my PC.

But I coulnd't install the Tools on CD2, because the setup says:

"None of the selected features can be installed or upgraded. Setup cannot
proceed since no effective change is being made to the machine. To continue,
click Back and then select features to install. To exit SQL Server Setup,
click Cancel."

Please help.

I need the BI Studio to start working / learning.

Regards
Danny

Well, this situation is familiar.

Let's assume you installed your Instance only and after completion of this
setup you wanted to install SSMS.

When you restart the setup and choose only SSMS, setup would arise this same
error as in your situation. I do not know exactly what would the most
correct action be in this situation but you could install a new instance
with the tools you want to setup and after setup you could uninstall only
that instance if it is not necessary.

Hi Guys,

thanks a lot for your help.

I will try to following both hints and if it's not successful, will inform
you about it.
