sql server notification services:
Hi there,

I know this may sound lame, but I'm having trouble getting started.

I can't seem to install NS correctly.

Here's some info about my system:

Windows XP SP2
..NET Framework 1.1
SQLXML 3.0
Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 3.0
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.818 (Intel X86)
May 31 2003 16:08:15
Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation
Personal Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)

I'm trying to install the standard verson of NS: MSSQLNS20SP1.Std.en.exe

I get this message "The database components require a qualified version of
SQL Server on the machine."

Is this because I'm using the Personal Edition of SQL Server?

What causes this message?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Samantha

Hi Samantha -

SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000), SQL Server 2000
Personal Edition, and SQL Server 2000 CE Edition are not
supported by Notification Services.

Only Standard, Enterprise, Developer, and Evaluation Editions are
supported by SQLNS 2.0 SP1
