sql server notification services : Error 22022: SqlServerAgent Error: Unable to resolve email recipie

Hello:

I had SQL Notifications working fine. Recently, though, the notifications
are not being sent when a designated event occurs, and when I go to test the
operator e-mail configuration, I receive the message listed in the subjest
heading.

The changes that I know of on the server since the notifications were first
setup was that SMTP services were enabled, and the SQLMail profile points to
the same profile Outlook uses for the contacts.

I tried searching in the technet and knowledge base areas, but the search
didn't provide any useful information.

If anyone could point me in the direction of what may be wrong and how to

Hi Saigman -

You may want to login using the SQL Server login account and try
sending email to that recepient.

BTW - You'll have better luck by posting this question to another
newsgroup such as microsoft.public.sqlserver.server

This on is dedicated to the SQL Server Notification Services add-on.

HTH...

Hi Saigman,
We started to have this problem as well; started on the same day that you
wrote this. Have you been able to resolve it?

Sending mail via xp_sendmail works fine, but using operators we are getting
the 22022 error
"Error 22022: SQLServerAgent Error: Unable to resolve email recipient name
'worldadmin' (reason: One or more of the recipients was not found in the
address book."

Hello, Tom:

No, I haven't been able to resolve this issue at all, nor have I seen any
real postings about it on the net.

The fact that you had the same problem on the same day is rather
disconcerting; hopefully, it is an unhappy coincidence.

If I find anything, I will post.

Thanks!

Saigman,
I just stopped and restarted the SQL Agent. Test of the operators are now
working for me.

Hello, Tom:

The restart of the SQLAgent didn't work, but a restart of the server did.

Thanks for putting me onto the right track. Hopefully, this is an isolated
incident, and not something that will be a routine occurence.
