Can SQL 2005 notification services be configured to send a SMS message?
If it is possible what additional hardware/software is required?

Out of the box, SSNS provides an smtp delivery channel and a file
delivery channel.

However you can create your own custom delivery channel for SMS if you
need that capability.

There used to be several companies on the web that provided gateway
services. They had usually had either a web service you could use in
your custom delivery protocol or they could receive an email and route
that to the SMS device. Not sure if they still exist or not; perhaps a
quick search on Google would yield a few companies.

HTH...

Hello Robin

Can you share how you resolved this? How easy was it to set up? Did you go
with a SMS delivery service that accepts messages via e-mail and forwards
them to phones? I have seen them around but don't know what the cost of the
service would be.

Thanks.
