sql server notification services: sql server 2000 on a windows 2000 - standalone
exchange server 2003 on a domain
same network

all test in the enterprise manager work besides the operator test, where it
should send a test message to the opertors email.
It returns error 22022, but my services are working fine through the right
accounts.
In the Agent logs I see error [260] referring to MAPI error [285] which
explains that the Agent wasn't able to log on to the Exchange Server.

This Exchange server always requires the users to type their password every
time you open outlook (start a MAPI session)

Hi DJL -

You'll probably have move luck in the
microsoft.public.sqlserver.server newsgroup.

In the meantime, here's a link that may offer some assistance.
