sql server odbc:
Greetings All:

I have a number of machines that remotely connect to an
SQL server via a VPN. Tables are linked via ODBC. (The
front end is in Access).

All went great for awhile, then all of a sudden we're
getting the error that says "Can't find SQL Server or
Access was denied".

Machines on site have no problem, it's only the remote
access machines. VPN connects fine, Mapping a network
drive is no problem, but connecting to SQL has become a
problem.

At the end of my rope. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

James -
Did you do any updates to the software or to the SQL Server recently
If you go into microsoft.public.sqlserver.connectivity you will find a couple things to try. I'll copy one that I found very helpful

This is probably a routing issue. Couple of things to try/questions for
you

- When connected via VPN, can you ping the server by name and IP

- Can you see shares on the server via Start -> Run \\servername

- On the properties for your VPN connectiod, click the Networking tab.
Select Internet Protocol and assign DNS to be a DNS server in your
company's environment

- Are you logging in via VPN with the same account you use to connect to
the SQL Server while in the office
