sql server odbc: having a problem connecting to sql database when we have
no internet connection,but we can ping the sql server
normally.

Can you map a drive to the server? Sometimes that needs to be done to
establish a SQL connection. In rare instances, the only way I can connect
with SQL credentials is to connect to the server's IP address.

You should also run the Server Network Utility (SQL Program group) on the
server and Client Network Utility on the client (also SQL Program Group) to
verify both programs are communicating with the same protocols and ports.
When you are creating a new SQL configuration, you can click Client
Configuration in the screen where user credentials are specified in order to
pick a suitable protocol.
