Type: Error
Event : 0
Description:
"The description (0) in source (SQL Server ODBC driver
support error ) cannot be found. The local computer may
not have the neccesary registry information or DLL files

We've had a couple reports of this error coming after Blaster was installed
and our fervently trying to understand the narrow scenario which creates
the problem. Here's what you need to do to correct it.

Copyover the correct sqlsrv32.rll / sqloledb.rll from the your MDAC version.
- Determine the currently installed MDAC version from:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataAccess\FullInstallVer)
- Download the appropriate version of the MDAC_Type.EXE from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/dataaccess
- Extract the mdac_typ.exe using the following command:
mdac_typ /c /t:c:\My_Extraction_folder
- Extracted SQLSRV32.RLL from the SQLODBC.CAB,
- Backup the current copy of the SQLSRV32.RLL in the \<System32Dir>\ folder,
- Copy the extracted SQLSRV32.RLL into the \<System32Dir>\ folder.

Please post back to this thread if it does not work for you.

Thanks very much, Shawn. Your answer came a little late=20
but we could probably have to try with other infected=20
instalations soon. I will write back with results.

Now we have decided at that moment to reinstall SQL Server=20
backing up the Data folder. Our question now is how to=20
make it to restore a certain database (*.ldf & *.mdf) into=20
this new server.
We will try to copy the whole Data folder into the new one=20
and then restart the server and see what happens, but I=20
don=B4t trust it will work.=20

We have installed this new SQL 2000 Server with the same=20
configuration as the old one and we only need to restore=20
one database. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks again in advance.
