sql server odbc:
I have SQL Server 2000 installed on a server in my
office. All users running SQL Query Analyzer in the
office work fine, but in my Office out of state the Users
get:
Unable to connect to server XXXXX:
Server: Msg 11, Level 16, State 1
[Microsoft][ODBC Sql Server Driver][DBNETLIB] General
network error. Check your network documentation.

If we switch the ODBC connection to named pipes it works
and we have used this for a work around but the users say
it is slower than using TCP/IP. This error just recently
started when we moved our office into a new building and
deployed all New Dell PC's with XP.

Any input would be appreciated.

Sounds like a DNS issue.
One thing you might try is to check the Alias under your
Client Network Utility. Make sure that the correct IP
address is installed.

We had a similar problem recently and it turned out to be
a setup issue with a router and its DNS configuration.
