sql server programming: I have a sql script as shown below. This take about 9 hours to run.
However, when i remove the "Link the duplicate entries that would have
been missed since the grouping into #oxpsum" code (to the "Update linked
rows to dbt_oxp_history" code) it takes about 23 minutes to run. If i
then run the "Link duplicate entries" code on its own it takes a total
of 5 minutes to run. So together the entire script should not take more
than 30 minutes to run.

Any ideas?

I have no idea what you're on about. You didn't include a query, and even
if you had, it is impossible for us to spot problems with it unless you also
show schema, sample data, and desired results.
