sql server programming:
Well, you can attach SQL Server 2000 database files on SQL Server 2005; but
not files from 2005 onto 2000.

Are 2005 mdf files compatible with version 2000?

Scott
If I understood your question properly , you can restore the database from
SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005 but only this way not from SQL Server
2005 to SQL Server 2000

If you are asking if you can attach a 2005 file to 2000, the answer is no.
They are not backward compatible in this manner. Forward compatibility is
another thing, as you can attach 2000 db files to 2005.

once you attach a 2000 file to 2005, does 2005 convert it? basically, i'd
like to work on a 2000 file attached to 2005 sql and then reattach it to a
2000 production server.
