sql server replication:
Hi Everyone,

We have recently started receiving replicated data from
our hosting partner. When viewing the database via EM,
the database icon is grey rather than the normal gold
color.

I have been unable to allow readonly access to the
database and my efforts to un-check the readonly box
under properties always results in an error that the
database name is not correct.

I also can't grant access to this database for a user as
the grey icon can't be checked.

What am I overlooking?

Thanks.

It sounds like they are doing log shipping and have not
done the recovery option.

When you apply the last transaciton log you must do it
with the recovery switch as opposed to the no recovery
switch.

Thanks Hilary. As it turns out, until they upgrade their
equipment, they are not using a transaction log but are
simply backing up in the evenings so there is no
capability of using the recovery switch.

Thanks again.
