sql server replication:
HI All,

I have sql server 2000, with a pull merge at a subscriber. This expired
after 14 days (I forget to turn off the option)
The user has now been adding data to their subscription database for several
weeks after the expiration.
Question. How can we restart synchronising without losing any of the data
added since the expiry?

I have searched the ng but struggle to see what to do.

I have search BOL and found the following:

"You can reinitialize anonymous subscriptions at the Subscriber after the
agent failure so that a new snapshot is applied at the Subscriber. However,
named subscriptions will need to be dropped and re-created."

We have a named subscription, so how can we drop and recreate it AND keep
all data?

Looking forward to your advice.

PS the subscriber has only a phone (ISDN) connection to the publisher.

If you use Enterprise Manager to reintialize the subscribtion there is an
option to upload data from subscriber before initializing. This should all
the data at the subscriber to be uploaded before the re-initialization
takes place.

Reinitialise doesn't work, as there is no record of the subscription at the
publisher. BOL syas you have to delete th subscription at the subscriber
and recreate it.
This, and many other things really frustrate me with SQL server. It just
feels bug ridden and poorly thought out. I can't wait to get rid of it.
