sql server replication:

Right after restoring
dist db, pub db and msdb,
logreader agent fails with message saying
step did not generate any output?

I tried sp_replrestart and stil l getting same error.

Go to the Log Reader job itself view the history.

There are cases where the log reader agent hangs while attempting to
initialize the distributor.

The one time I encountered this problem I was able to solve it by a reboot.
