sql server replication:
Hi!

We set up a merge replication on a WIN2k Advanced Server
SQL2k SP3 with 80 tables and horizontal filters. There are
50 clients WIN2k MSDE SP3 which synchronize via pull
subscription. The central database is changed every
morning, so table msmerge_contents has 250000 rows right
now.
The process to create an initial snapshot for a new client
takes very long (ca. 1h 30) and all the tables are locked
during this process. Most of the time is used for bulk
copying out of table msmerge_contents. Is there a
possibility to speed up this process?

Thank you for help

Hi Alex,
Please have a look at this in BOL: Improving Performance While Generating
and Applying Snapshots.
Replication depends a lot on speed of your network (lan or wan?).
Also try applying snapshot manually, you won't have locks that long.

Hope this helps
