sql server replication: Thanks in advance for the help!

I've got SQL Server 2000 and goinf thrua nd getting replication setup
and everything so far has been fine until I tried to create a new
publication. I go thru the wizard and on the window where you select
the database, my database that I want to replicate is not listed. The
other databases that I have running all show up.

Ay ideas on what's going on or what I have done different to cause
this?

I'm using a SQL Server 2000 database on Windows XP and trying to setup
merge replication between the Windows XP and a laptop running MSDE.

When I try to create a new publication, the wizard will appear and
I'll check the Advanced Options checkbox, click Next, and then on the
next window the list of available databases appear except for the one
that I want to publish.

I have even tried to create a publication from the database itself
(right click on database, New, New Publication...) but get the same
results.

This is really frustrating and another friend tried the same database
at his location and it worked just fine.

I'm leaning towards something that is/is not set right on the Windows
XP machine.

There are some special considerations that need to be taken when using MSDE
for replication. I've attached a KB article that deals with these issue.
