I want to do some kind of replication for backup purposes. I know you are
limited in what you can do with the standard 2000 sql. What kind of
replications can I do and how do I set them up. I was thinking about log

Ronald,
log shipping is a standard method used for disaster
recovery boxes. However, you have standard so you'll need
to roll your own - ie the option to do it using the
maintenance plan wizard won't be enabled. No matter -
there are plently of free scripts out there, and on the
resource kit there are scripts you can use. BTW I have a
comparison of log shipping and transactional replication
on www.replicationanswers.com which may be interesting
for you.
