sql server replication:
I'm trying to setup replication over the internet using FTP.

I have created a SQL Login to SQL Server to use for replication (unless I'm
missing something this is an absolute must).

I can create an anonymous subscription using the above login provided it has
access to the actual database.

The publication is filtered and I want to only return rows dependent on the
Login used (I think I can figure this out)

How do I setup security so the login can not actually connect to the
database and view all the data. The should only be able to create a
subscription and see a subset of the data.

Thanks.

this can't be done. The account you are using must be able to connect to the
distrib agent and read data on the publisher.
