sql server replication: No luck. I tried as suggested but still get no love. Exact same issue.

Additional info:
both servers are in a workgroup not on a domain.

Here is the output from the copy job as seen in the job history:

Ok. I created a cmdexec job to copy the file and it worked just fine.

Bizarre.

I can always alter the job to not execute the maintplan in favor of a
simple copy step I suppose but I don't understand why the log shipping
job wont work identically.

I can't put my finger on this issue. Perhaps you could try testing things
indirectly. Can you create a job on the standby server which uses a cmdexec
step to copy a file from the production server's share to the local
directory. Schedule the job then see if it works. Hopefully it won't but it
will report more useful error info.

to get it going you could rely on your manual job but as you say it's fustrating not knowing why this doesn't work normally. The offer still stands if you want to send me screen shots of your steps through the setup wizard - just to give the setup configuration a clean bill of health
