sql server replication:
How do I go about removing some rouge agents? Specifically, I have a
couple of snapshot agents for publications that do not exist. They
have the damn red 'X' on them and when I try to start the agent, I get
the error....'Error 14262: The specified @job_id
('....bla...bla...bla...') does not exist.

TIA,
Larry....

do you mean rouge or rogue? Disconnect from EM, reconnect. Normally
this fixes this problem.

Hillary,

Thanks for the spell check.

My problem is that the subscriptions are gone, but the snap shot agents
are still there. Is there a table that I can go into and delete/remove
them?? Will I need to delete any jobs any where??

Larry,
It depends on where you are seeing them! Generally you see these "ghosted"
agents when entries get stuck in the agent_status table in Tempdb.
Restarting SQL SHOULD clear that up...
However, you could check the following:
distribution..ms*_agents
and tempdb..MS_replication_agent_status

Of course the obligatory disclaimer: Microsoft does not support, nor
encourage editing these system tables. Doing so may cause replication to
become damaged beyond repair. Do so at your own risk.
