sql server replication : set up Email notification when transaction repl fails?

Hello,

The other day our ISP lost our mac address (or something) and we lost
internet access. Along with that came our transactional replication failure
as the publisher DB could not reach the subcriber DB. The internet
connection got resolved shortly afterwards, and no customer was complaining
about access to our sites until we got a new customer this morning (2 days
later) who couldn't log on. So I saw that there was in fact a replication
failure (the new customer's login info not replicated). I restarted the
distribution agent and all was fne.

Does sqlsvr(2000) have a mechanism where I can be emailed when replication
fails? Transactional replication? If so, how can I set this up?

Thanks,
Rich

Thank you. Yes. I saw the alert for Agent failure. I have been spending
sometime since your suggestion setting up a profile on our exchange server.
This is a whole nuther issue for me which is going to take me a little while
to figure out (since I am not an Exchange mail server guy).

I guess I will be hanging out in the Exchange server group for a bit to
figure this out - unless you know the easy way to set up a profile on
Exchange server.

I am reading the following article at

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/263556/EN-US/

on how to configure sql mail, but I still need to set up the profile.

Have a look at replication alerts.
