sql server replication : safe to drop Distribution db ?

I've noticed that the Distribution db is not present on a fresh instance of
SS05, but then apparently is created on creation of a replication
publication or subscription.

Does anyone know, is it safe to delete the Distribution db ? ( Assuming no
publications or subscriptions are present on the box ).

No, disable publishing by right clicking on the replication folder in SSMS
and selecting disable publishing and distribution. This will drop the
distribution database in a supported manner.
