sql server replication : Merge Replication become too slow

There are 671 merge articles on the publisher,
When subscriber starts to synchronising data

Why Processing Article takes long time before transferring data ?.

Any help would be appriciated.

How is the connectivity between the publisher and the subscriber? Also, how
much data is approximately being syncrhonized every time?
