sql server replication : Uninitialized subscription error

I have just started setting up SQL Server 2005 Subscriptions for the first
time and I already have a major issue (I have done hundreds of SQL 2000 merge
setups).
The problem that I am having is one of the Subscriptions didn't seem to
process properly and now I have like 20 "Uninitialized Subscription" warnings
on the publisher. I removed the subscription and recreated it and now it is
functioning properly but I still have all these warnings in the publisher's
replication monitor that I want to get rid of. I checked everything that I
could think of but I can't find a way to remove or delete these erronious
subscriptions. What can I do to get rid of these from the Replication
Monitor?

delete them from the msMerge_history and MSmerge_articlehistory tables in
the distribution database. Note that the history should only be retained
2-3 days so it should clear over the weekend.
