sql server replication : SQL 2005 Merge w/ different domains

I have a publisher/distributor on one domain, and the subscriber is on a
different domain. Both use administrator, but have different passwords.
There is an SQL security account setup that I can use to access the
servers via Server Management studio on both machines (both machines can
access both machines).

Setting up merge replication, the Merge Agent Security screen is
displayed.

First, it says:

Specify the domain or machine account under which the merge agent
process will run when synchronizing this subscription.

Is that user/password the publisher/distributor or the subscriber, or,
is it a windows account that has to be available on both machines? If it
is the latter, how would I do that when they are on different domains?

The last choice (Connect to the subscriber), I know i can use the SQL
Server Login i have created with no problem (at least I think I know).

This is the FIRST SQL 2005 replication setup i have done where the
machines are on different domains - which to me seems strange but I am
NOT an OS guru.

Thanks for you help in clarifying my options on this security screen.

Its for the publisher. When you set up the subscriber there is a dialog
which allows you to specify the publisher and subscriber accounts and
passwords.
