sql server replication: Hi,

We are tryin to do merge replication between a SQL server standard edition
on a desktop acting as publisher and SQL mobile edition on mobile device
acting as subscriber.

We folllowed the steps in here
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/aa454892.aspx
and everything worked just fine.

Now we need to implement SSL and tried this instantssl
http://www.instantssl.com/ssl-certificate-products/free-ssl-certificate.html
and selfssl http://www.somacon.com/p42.php.

We can access the https://machineName/virtualdir/sqlcesa30.dll via a web
browser but not inside the code.

I suspect its because of the CA is not a trusted authority hence the code
does not work.

Is there a way out without buying an actual ssl cert hopefully?

You can use Microsoft Certificate Services to do this, however your clients
will have to be authenticated against the local domain controller.
