Hi,

We have a merge pull replication environment with SQL2005 (SP1/SP2 - all
standard edition).

We are thinking on moving the publisher to a 64 Bit box. The plan is just to
call the new server the same way the old server and take a backups of the
database (publication database + distribution database) and restore it in
the new box.

We believe subscribers won't notice the difference; has anyone tried
something like that?

Any thought is appreciated... Thanks, José Araujo.

Hi Jose,

the SQL Server Compact Edition are not running on 64 bit. Install a 32 bit
machine in the same domain with the replication tools and the Compact
Edition v3.1!!!!! (v3.0 is bad). I have the same problem.

Hello -

Are you saying that the sql server 2005 replication tools will not
run/install on a 64 bit machine? Until this week, we have only run sql
server on 32 bit machines and we have replication working great. A new
machine was setup, and it is a 64 bit machine with the 64 bit version of sql
2005. I have been experiencing some problems trying to set up the sql mobile
server replication tools on the server and now i am wondering if this is the
problem.

thanks,
- will
