sql server replication: Hi gurus,
If I want to switch the distributor agent profile, for example, from the
system default profile to a new user-defined profile, I can do this from
Replication Monitor by Expanding a specific publication and then under "All
subscriptions" tab, right-click the subscription and select agent profile
from the popup window, and then in the new window, I can select the new user
customized profile, and then click OK.
My question is: after doing this, does the profile take effects immediately?
or should I restart the whole sql server agent service to let the new
profile take control?

TIA,
Jeff

While you can restart the entire SQL Server for the new profile to be
effect, all you really need to do is to restart the agent (stop and start
it). The new profile (or changes to a profile) will not be effective until
the agent is restarted.
