sql server replication: Hi

Issue with SQL replication:

My SQL server has been set up in a system with a static IP/ domain
name.

A server alias has been created for the ip and soain name in client
network utility.

Case 1#
My SQL server name is same as my Computer Name ("raj"):

- I am able to configure the distributor, publisher and publication
database successfully.
- I created a PULL subscription from another computer which is
connected over the dialup internet ( a different non trusted domain).
I have selected the servers publiser database by giving the static ip
or domain name.
- The subscrition gor created successfully.
- when the Job runs, it keeps trying to connect to the distributor and
fails. In the error message it shows that it is; trying to connect to
the server "raj", Server doesnt not exists.

Case 2#

My SQL server name is same as my domain name ( like www.mydomain.com )

- I am trying to create a distributor and publisher from the
replication wizard.
- It fails with the error 14117: 'distribution' is not configured a s
distribution database.

Any help is very much appreciated...

thx

There are detailed guidelines in here:
http://www.replicationanswers.com/InternetArticle.asp
What I'm wondering is if you set up and used the alias at the subcriber. You
mentioned "I have selected the servers publiser database by giving the static
ip
or domain name", which makes me wonder if it was set up correctly.

paul,

never expected tat someone would even respond to my query. I am happy u did it, appreciate this very much.

How do I ensure that I have done my set up correctly. I dont see any wrong with the setup, but there could be somethig missing.

I have, Two systems
SYSTEM1: Connected via static IP, SYSTEM NAME is RAJSERVER
SYSTEM2: Connected via dialup / GPRS, system name is RAJ

I am able to create a push subscription from SYSTEM2 to SYSTEM1 in Transactional replication by creating snapshot manually.

I wanted to create a pull subscrition from SYSTEM2. The supscrition got created succesfully, but while trying to sunchronizing, it tries connecting to the system name 'RAJSEREVER' and fails saying could not find server.

any help plss.
