sql server replication:
Hey guys,

I have a a problem was wondering if someone can pointme to the righ
direction.

We have two SQL server running on WIN2k3 and sql 2005.

At the moment we have replication setup between server 1 and server2
but it doesnt work. The replication is setup that Server1 is setup as
publisher and is very high profile server with db about 12 GB.

Server 2 has been setup as the subscriber and the distributor. the
reason for this was because we dont want the server1 to be very busy
and not to have any load that can be avoided.

This system has been given to me so i didnt etup the replication. And
this has never been working.
Usually in past when i setup the replication i always setup publisher
and distributor on the same box and publisher on a seperate box.

Not sure if the exisiting setup with subscriber and ditriubutor on the
same box should work. Can someone shed some more light on this.

I am thinking of riping the replication apart and creating it again
with publisher and distribuot on server 1 and subscriber on server2.

Can please someone give me some pointers please.

And thanks for all the help in advance.

Regards

In a project, I set up the way you did and it still works great.

Server 1 = Publisher
Server 2 = Distributor & Subscriber.

I thought the same workload thing, because Server 2 would be used only for
reporting purposes.

So, what's the error? Why it doesn't work? Can you give us some more clue?

Just an update guys, In the end i just deleted the old replication and
started from scratch and all works fine now.

One question i do have is That can i delete the snapshot folder on the
server as its taking a lot of space. We use transactional
replucation..

Thanks in advance once again.
