sql server replication:
Good Day,

I am using SQL server 2005 with transactional replication to another server.
I have a third server acting as the distributor.

I would like to shut down the distributor server to install a hard drive but
am unsure on what this will do to the replication. If I shut down the server
will it do so gracefully and then continue replication on startup? If not,
is there a specific way to maybe disable and reenable?

Thank you for your help.

Regards,
Paul Johnson.

Replication can tolerate the distributor going down for brief periods. It
should be good for about 2 days offline with all defaults and well connected
subscribers.

Your tlogs on the publication databases will grow very large however.
