WISH LIST Kevin Weir

sql server reporting services:
Hi All

I thought I would start a general thread that would contain a list of
features I would like to see in future versions of SQL Reporting services.
Please feel free to extend my list. Hopefully Microsoft is watching :)

1) Ability to export to Microsoft word
2) Keep together at group level within table regions
3) Ability to specify rendering extension information within report manager
subscriptions. For example, there is currently no way to specify
suppression of CSV headers on report manager subscriptions we create.
4) Ability to reset page numbers on group breaks
5) Built in printer delivery extension
6) Stroner design time support for various paper sizes/orientation. For
example would like to select Letter, Landscape as opposed to expressing
everything in measures
7) Better design time support for labels. ie standard Avery labels dimensions
8) Ability to consume XML documents as data source

Just thought of a couple of more that would be high on my list

1) Ability for administrator to be notified via E-Mail if subscription fails

2) If there is no data would like to have flag that says to not proceed to
delivery extension. This would be extremely useful if subscription was
sending content to printer but there was nothing to print. Would elimiate
paper waste. Why print a page with only header and footer!!!!!

A way to get headers back from a subreport if there are no rows in the result
set. My users want to see the headers and a "No data to report" message.
Maybe a property to specify if headers should be returned so that there is a
choice.

Hi All,
Few more wish list:

1) One can directly use mailto function in the URLs
2) On click of the link the report should open up in the same screen as it
was in.

Regards

One MORE:

Ability to launch subscriptions via the command line with

example -
RUNSUb.exe subscriptionname, paramenters

Of course, ability to know if subscription failed via email and console output

Could the NoRows property be used in this somehow?

It would be nice if we could specify the fields that get exported. For
example, I don't want to export the report links. This causes merged
cells in Excel.

I AGREE!!!
There should also be the ability to configure reports at export level before
they are rendered to Excel so the formatting is better!

I agree with many items listed here. I would also like to add:

-- The ability to hide items from printing.

I have found other posts on this but nobody has come up with a solution -
including me.

Thanks.

You are saying you want to hide items from printing, but show them in the
online rendering?

I would like to be able to exclude certain items from the Excel
download. for example, we display certain parameters above the report
details but we do not need them in the exported spreadsheet. These end
up being rows the user has to manually remove, thus adding to the time
required to reorganize the data.

embedded fonts for export formats like PDF files is essential

Yes. Items like links to other pages or anything that is needed to be seen
on screen but not needed/wanted on the printout.

Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Thanks,
Fred

I've seen this item come up a couple dozen times and it is a HUGE issue at my
company:

The ability to name worksheets on multisheet Excel reports.
