sql server reporting services : SQL Report Not Published in IIS

Hi ,

When I try installing SQL reporting services on Windows 2003 with
Windows Sharepoint Services already installed, during installation it gives
me a message similar to "Reporting components will be disabled. Do you want
to manually enable them later". The installation completes successfully if I
choose the "enable later" option and the corresponding Report server
directories are created in IIS. The report can be viewed in the Report
Designer but when I try to deploy it, it gives "Report server not found at
<machinename>" error. Also, if I try to navigate to SQL reports home page
thru Start menu it goes to SharePoint home page rather than SQL Reporting
Home Page. Any idea as to how I can enable the report
components or what needs to be done at IIS level to enable the Report Home
page? Pls advise.

Thanks In Advance.

Sharepoint has it's own handlers that intercepts all requests to the server.
You need to add the Reporting directories to Sharepoint's list of exclusions.

The Online Books has a page on just this case:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/RSinstall/htm/gs_installingrs_v1_9fdy.asp

What exactly do you mean with "reporting services is no longer the default"?
Is it that when you go to "http://servername/" it does not automatically

I just added sharepoint services and have reports working again BUT
reporting services is no longer the default. When I click on the properties
of the default web it still is. So it looks like what you mention before is
happening (Sharepoint intercepting). Do you know what to do to have RS go
back to being the default? Thanks,

I don't think you can exclude the root directory from Sharepoint.

One thing you could do is to set up another virtual host on your machine and
move reporting services there. That way you would have one sharepoint web and
one RS web and they would not get in eachothers way.

Exactly. Not it is bringing up the sharepoint services page:
http://servername/default.aspx

It is no longer redirect.
