Sending ReportItem to Query?

sql server reporting services:

I have a textbox that calculates a value that I use in other parts of my
report via the ReportItems collection.

I would like to send that value to a query as a parameter.

You could make a subreport (or linked report) and tie the textbox value to a
parameter of that subreport.
