OK, I think I know what has happened. I am guessing that you ended up with
the rdl somewhere and then tried just opening it. What you need to do is to
first save the rdl somewhere different from where your project files are
saved (I usually just save it somewhere like c:\temp). Then, have a Report
Project open. Do a right mouse click on reports, add, add an existing item.
Then go to where the report rdl is saved. As part of the process of adding
it to the project it will copy the rdl to where all the other reports for
that project are being saved. Now you have the report in a report project
and everything should be fine.
