sql server reporting services : Weak Chart Font Display in Report Manager

Most likely "Cleartype" is turned on. Cleartype will improve the readability
of fonts for low-resolution devices by smoothing screen fonts, but should be
turned off for high resolution outputs. When the chart is rendered it will
apply the current system setting (control panel - display - appearance -
effects).
Turn Cleartype off and refresh the report in report manager with Ctrl+F5.
Does it make a difference?

1. I have my first chart displaying nice, crisp bold fonts for Titles,
Legends and axis labels in Designer Preview Mode.

2. However, when deployed and run in Report Manager on same machine, the
fonts are thin, non-bold, and uneven, and have a washed out look.

What would account for this? Am I missing some setting?

Thanks very much.

Alan

Robert,

Thanks for your quick reply.

1. Clear type was already turned off. I'm sing 19" LCD set to 1280.

2. I had been running with Large Fonts(120 dpi) set in Display Settings
Advanced.

I set size back to Norma (96 dpi)l, and now chart labels and titles are no
longer uneven and washed out.

3. However, they are thin normal weight, not Bold as I prefer.

4. Is there a place to set labels and titles to Bold? I only found this for
Legends. I tried to find in in BOL also.

5. Also, any suggestions as to how to be able to still use Large Fonts and
get cleanly displayed fonts in charts?

Thanks again.

Regards,

Alan

Robert,

NEVER MIND!!

I found the Style buttons for the various labels and axes. I had been
looking for menu options.

Setting to semi-bold or bold cured problem in normal and large font sizes.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Alan
