Is there another textbox or rectangle, etc on top of it?
Also, do you have the checkbox checked to allow it to grow if needed?

I don't have anything on top of it, but I did leave out one important fact:
these are the columns of a table (forgot to mention that). I don't have
anything set except the defaults on the table.
Whenever I print the report in the previewer it comes out fine even though
the text appears cutoff on the preview screen. But, when I render the
report as a TIFF and print it, the cutoff text appears in the printed
report.
I was having the same problem, and changing the padding didn't work. I ended
up increasing the size of the font from 8pt Arial to 9pt, and that resolved
