Please advise - Is Active Directory required for RS Enterprise?

sql server reporting services: We are implementing a web-based reporting system, using custom (ASP.NET
Forms) authentication - so our users do not have Windows accounts.

Can we create an Enterprise RS setup (including Network Load Balanced Report
Servers) without deploying Active Directory?

If the answer is yes, what are the major implications?

No, you do not need Active Directory. You will need to build a custom
security extension to handle logins.
