sql server reporting services: Yes. RDL is a open standard based on XML (plain text)

Unless you have control over their Reporting Services server you can't. If
you deploy the reports yourself to the server and set the security where
they can not get the RDL then you are fine. Otherwise the customer can get
the RDL for any deployed report. If you use custom assembles to extend the
product then you can do things to that but the RDL can not be protected.

If i ship an RDL file to a client can they open it with a new project and
edit it ?
