Well, just for the group's info...I got Forms Auth working fine then wanted
to revert back to Win Auth. I replaced the original config files but
afterward I got sporadic results.

My recommendation is just un-install RS, delete the RS databases, and
re-install - which is what I did. I hope MS makes managing security
extensions more intuitive and manageable in the future.

Yes and no: My attempts to get forms authentication have not yet
succeeded, but I *have* managed to switch it back to Windows
Authentication without any particular trouble.

The steps I took were (1) replacing the modified .config files with the
original versions, (2) changing IIS to not permit anonymous browsing
any more, and (3) reset IIS.
