sql server reporting services: I use the email feature where you reference a remote SMTP server. It worked
previously only for emailing links. It would not email the report. I was
hoping this issue would be resolved with SP2 and it did. It works perfectly
now.

Hmm, that is interesting. This issue has always been about permission to
read Active Directory. Perhaps the user you are running RS as changed or
the correct privileges were set.

Not sure what Active Directory would have to do with this. The scenario was
that the report subscription would work if sending a link (the email would
arrive just fine). If the report was rendered then it would error out. I had
seen many times comments from MS people that this was not dependable and the
best bet was to install the smtp service on the server and to have the
subscription put the report in a pickup directory. Plus, I used managed
newsgroup and went back and forth with a support person for a long time
until I gave up and decided to wait and see what happened with SP2. Since
mail was being sent (the SMTP server used is a unix box, it is not part of
Active Directory) but just the link would work, not sending the report,
connection was being established with the mail server.
