sql server reporting services: I've installed SQL reporting services on one of our SQL servers along with
the .net framework. I then installed VB .net 2003 and I'm trying to open a
new project to create a report. When I click on new project, the new project
window opens, but there is no Business Intelligence Projects folder to choose
a new report project from.

After installing VS 2003 you need to install the client tools. If no VS was
there when installing then the report designer was not installed.

Thanks for the response Bruce-
I just saw another post about the same issue. When I was working with VB
and SQL Reporting Services in a classroom, we were working on the server
itself that had all the components installed on it, so it wasn't an issue.
I didn't realize that there were additional components that needed to be
installed, but it makes sense that they would need to be.
Thanks for your help.

Okay... I've read several posts on this problem and I haven't found one yet
that specifically says what CD do I get the BI Projects template installed
from? Is it Visual Studio 2003 .NET or SQL SERVER or MS Reporting Services
or a Prereq CD? This may be a silly question... but considering the
countless CDs and downloads it takes to get Reporting Services installed

Paula-
On my workstation, after i installed VB 2003 .Net I had to run setup from
the Reporting Services CD to get the BI projects template.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. When I try to use the MSRPT CD I get these
errors: "This edition of Reporting Services does not support installing the
server components on this operating system."
and
"ASP.NET is not installed or is not registered with your Web Server"

My workstation is XPprof with:
Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003
IIS 5.1
Microsoft SOAP Toolkit Ver3
Microsoft .NET Framework SDK v1.1
SQLXML3.0
..NET Web Control for BI
SQL Server 2000

I don't understand why the CD is giving me these errors. If you know
something else I should download, please let me know.

Thanks!

Okay, now it's installing. I didn't realize I could just hit NEXT past those
errors. Hopefully this will add in what I need to Studio.

Thanks!
