sql server reporting services:
I have a web application that accesses Reporting Services via Web Service
calls. Also, Forms authentication is configured to be used by RS. All works
fine on my local development machine. But after deploying it to production
server, I am facing Http status 401: access denied error. If I restart IIS,
the problem goes away and everything works fine. But after a couple or so
hours, it again raises 401 error. I have deployed and tested the application,
both on Windows 2000 and Windows 2003. Both of them gives me the same error.
My local machine has Win XP installed.
Can anyone let me know about the solution to this problem, please?

Thanks,

Are you using 2003 server w/SP1? If so, the following solution may
solve your problem. (I had same problem and this solved)
"create a DWORD entry called DisableLoopbackCheck to
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa. Set this key to a value of 1"

This is an issue which occures after appling SP1 to 2003 server.

I hope, this helps.

Thanks for your reply, Barbaros.
I did came to know of this problem with win 2003/sp1. But is it the same
case with win 2000 too? Or is there any hotfix available apart from creating
registry entry?

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Milin

Hi Milin,

We are having the same issue as you are, and our machine is a Windows
2000 Server SP4. Were you able to find a solution to the problem? Did the
registry entry do the trick?

Please let me know,

Daniel.
