sql server reporting services:
Hi all....

I installed a 120-day evaluation version of Repoting Services. I'm using
Visual Studio .NET as the develoment environment.

As a first report, I tried to connect to an Oracle 7.3.4 database but when I
use a very simple query, such as SELECT * FROM POLIZA, in query designer I
get the error "fetch out of sequence" when I press exclamation mark in
toolbar in order to refresh dataset. I am able only to retrieve query fields,
but not records.

This is what I have when I open "Shared Data Source" properties dialog:
Name: Pluton
Type: OLEDB
Connection String: Provider=MSDAORA.1;Data Source=Pluton

I put in credentials tab the username and password.

The same error occurs if I use ODBC or Oracle type of connection.

I think this is a Reporting Service problem since if I copy and paste the
query to my Oracle client application, it works.

One other fact. This happens only with "Shared Data Sources" when project
type is Reporting Services, because when I go to "Data connections" in
"Server Explorer" auto-hide window and add the connection, I can browse the
data without errors.

Any help would be greately appreciated,
Thanks

Try the generic query designer (there is a button to the right of the ...
which switch the query designer to the generic designer view). One thing to
keep in mind. You need to have an 8i client or greater installed. Will those
clients work with 7.3.4 database?

Hi...

The query works when I use Graphical Query Builder. I was trying to do it
using Generic Query Builder. Only in that case query doesn't work.

If it works using Graphical query builder, can I continue designing the
report without worry about that problem in Generic Query Builder?

When I run the query in my development PC, connected to a Reporting Service
machine (running Windows Server 2003), which oracle client is used? my local
client or the server one? I have Oracle 9i client in the server, maybe that
is the problem since I'm trying to connect to a 7.3.4 database.

Thanks
Jaime
