PDF Export - fonts dont show up properly D Witherspoon

sql server reporting services:
For example the reverse delta character (upside down triangle) (0xD1) from
the Symbol font will not show up on reports exported to PDF but other
characters from the Symbol font will. The reverse delta character shows up
when exporting to a TIFF just fine though.

Anyone seen this? or know of a solution ?

I have a similar problem. The trademark character shows up but causes
justification to change from left to full, with lines truncated rather that
being wrapped correctly on reports exported to PDF. The trademark character
causes no problem when exporting to TIFF or Web Archive. I am using Arial
font; Adobe Reader 7.

Check the fonts installed on the Reporting Services server box against
those on the computer you are using.

You may have different versions of the font on the server and on your
client - the TIFF output would be rendered with the server's fonts, but
other formats would use the fonts of the client computer.

If you change fonts on the server, you may need to open them in the
control panel and then reboot the computer - for some reason, this is
sometimes needed for a font to be recognized...

You can't embed fonts in PDF outputs, and I don't think that will be in
RS 2005, either (I have an unanswered posting on the subject).

For the Arial font, you might be using Arial Narrow, which is not on
every computer.

My results are different. In the VS Development enviroment the trademark
character shows up properly with no changes in formatting when I export to
PDF. However, when I run the report from Report Manager and export to PDF,
then the character shows up but the formatting changes to full-justification
with lines truncated. This is with standard Arial font and Reader 6. I
tested with Reader 7 on another machine with the same results. Thanks for
responses.

I don't believe it to be a font issue because even when testing the report
locally in my Visual Studio Development enviroment with a reporting services
project I get the characters to show up when I export to TIFF or in Web
Archive, but they don't show up when exporting to PDF. This is all on my
local PC before I am even deploying the reports to the Report Service.
