Unable to communicate with report server -- sql server reporting services

I just installed SQL reporting services on a Windows Server 2003
machine. I am unable to open report manager, the error message that i
get is

"Unable to communicate with report server. Please verify that the
report server is operational."

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Check to make sure the service is running (ReportServer) and that the account
running it is the Local System.
