I'm also running into this issue. I'm using Reporting Services 2000 SP2.
Any word from the MS folks on workarounds for this? It's as if it is forcing
a "keep together" on the subreport.
For my report, I've got a table in the body of the main report with 5 detail
rows in the table. The third detail row has a rectangle in it and my
subreport in that. As was reported, when the subreport contains too many
lines of data to fit on the page with the other detail rows, it pushes the
whole subreport to a new page.
If you need samples, LMK, but it should be easily reproducible.
Dale.

I'll try resubmitting this in the managed flavor, hoping to elicit a
response from MS. Is there a workaround to this issue?

I'm having the exact same problem. Does anyone know if this is fixed in RS
2005?
