I have a table with three columns and I would like to snake all three

Hi drchips,
Welcome to use MSDN Managed Newsgroup Support.

From your description, my understanding of this issue is: You wan to snake
the column in a table on a report. If i misunderstood your concern, please
feel free to point it out.

Unfortunately, you can not snake a column in table.

You can use a Multi-column Reports, but to view multi-column reports you
must use one the these renderers: Print Preview, PDF, or TIFF.
Preview, HTML, and Excel do not support multi-column rendering.

Hope this will be helpful.

I saw your link in help before I wrote this - but don't understand what it
is saying. Maybe if they offered a couple step by steps - I could hang my
hat on something.

I'm very familiar with SQL Reports and have written over a hundred reports
using it including matrices, graphs etc. Somehow - I'm missing what they
are saying here and there's very little on the web about it. (Probably
because it's so easy - there's nothing to say.)

Nevermind - figured it out again.

Thanks.

I've got that working. I've set my page to three inches high - and the
column widths equal to a couple inches. It renders perfectly.

I drop it as a sub report onto another report and now - my three inch high
formatting is gone - it renders out as a single column and it pushes out
onto another page. (I've read the previous posts where it has to be rendered
to something other than HTML)

I was trying to contain it within something where I could turn the "CanGrow"
property off - but couldn't find anything.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

Thanks for your update.

By design, the only object which can contain a subreport is Rectangle, but
it does not have CanGrow property.

The render will expand the subreport to fit the report height.

If you want to present something on eachpage, i think the best way is to
put it in the Page Head or Page Footer.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. I appreciate your
understanding on this.

Oh - I didn't realize this was a known issue. I have a list of indications
I'm trying to print. I need
this at the bottom of the patient's one page report.

I put the sub report on the page footer as you suggested. SR doesn't like
data regions or sub reports in there.

Has anyone been able to pull this off?

Is there a fix on the way? Will it fix the old version of SQL Reports
because they are not going to be able to update our SQL server till some of
our vendors update their SQL.

Hi David,

Thanks for the update.

Unfortunately, SQL Server Reporting Services does not propagate any
sub-report page
info (columns, margins, page size) to the parent. For the master report the
sub-report is just another report item. I have added your comments to our
feature wish list.

For now, If it has much business impact on you, I recommend that you open
a Support incident
with Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) so that a dedicated
Support Professional can work with you in a more timely and efficient
manner. If you need any help in this regard, please let me know.

For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Service and Support phone
numbers, please go to the following address on the World Wide Web:
